Teen hair loss

Hi, I would love some advice please. My 14 year old daughter has lost a large amount of hair today. Handfuls of it fell out as she was washing it. There are no bald patches, obvious loss sites or thinning of hair, in fact all looks and feels healthy and there is a lot of very corkscrew curly hair left.
She has recently started her periods and is in otherwise general good health with a healthy diet.
Should I get her checked out by the doctor or is this normal with the onset of periods? Thanks.

Definitely make an appointment with the doctor.

Take her to the doctors ... could be a condition call lichen planus. I have that... were you lose your hair.
