Hello, just wondering has this happened to anyone else? I got my period on Tuesday/wednesday 19th/20th of December which lasted the typical 5-7 days. Tonight now the 31st December I went to the toilet and found some brown discharge in my underwear and I'm getting cramps as If I'm getting my period again. This has never happened to me before. I'm 27 and I did have the kyleena coil inserted 3 months ago. I did have spotting for about a month after the coil insertion but it stopped and I haven't had anything unusual until now.
I'm a bit worried and I will see my gp but would love to know other's experiences, if any about it . Thanks

If you have a Kyleena, you’re not spotting ‘mid cycle’ because you don’t have a cycle with that method of contraception. As long as you can feel your coil threads, you can safely assume that the bleeding you had a week or so ago wasn’t a true period, just breakthrough bleeding.

Totally normal to have random spotting for the first 3-6 months after a coil fit and to have either no bleeding at all or just occasional spotting for the whole time the coil is in.

If you’re bleeding and can’t feel your coil strings, you need to do a pregnancy test and make an appointment for a coil check.

@WetBandits thanks for your reply 😊 I definitely can't feel the strings of my coil. I'll do a pregnancy test in the morning
