I have a similar- skip every other urge. And increase.

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 30/12/2023 21:37

You have 2 options:

  • eat it all and don’t buy any more
  • give it/chuck it away
Dynamoat · 30/12/2023 21:37

Bin it all. Pour washing up liquid over the bin. Never buy it again.

I'll just practice what I preach after a few after eights

Guttedme · 30/12/2023 22:05

Dark chocolate instead? (yuck but more bitter then sweet for the tastebuds)

Know your portion size for stopping - for example 10 milky bar buttons is 110 kcals and deemed 1 serving from back of the pack.

Counter any over indulge with exercise. Give yourself a date to stop for example people doing dry January have tonight and tomorrow until the give up and donate what’s left of the chocolate. If it isn’t in, you can’t have it.

I used to eat it daily but now only on a Sunday. It tastes so much better when there's a wait involved now and I'm much happier. Could you try a similar routine? It does take willpower at first obviously

Erinrose82 · 30/12/2023 22:35

I’m the same except I think my teeth are aching! I will forego dinner because I can’t stop…
I’ll have to go cold turkey.

I like the idea of this. Are you talking one piece or one bar of chocolate per week?

DelilahBucket · 30/12/2023 23:14

Honestly, cold turkey (no pun intended). Don't have it in the house if you don't have willpower. I managed to cut out sweet things like chocolate and biscuits to the point I didn't want them. I have had some stuff over Christmas naturally, but even then, I don't crave it like I used to. Today we opened a gift of a Heroes tub and a box of biscuits. Can't say I'm in any rush to eat them and DH and DS will probably have them. You can change what your body wants, but it isn't easy at first. Energy levels also play a huge part. I have a daily liquid iron supplement now which means I feel less tired and want less sugar.

solsticelove · 30/12/2023 23:36

You might be low in magnesium. Seriously you might have cravings for chocolate as it (the cocoa/cacao) is high ish in magnesium!
It could be worth experimenting with a magnesium supplement or even better a body spray as many of us are mag deficient.

Tessisme · 30/12/2023 23:45

It's because it's there. After Christmas it's always there. BIL gave us a 2kg box of Cadbury's Heroes - he must've bought it at the wholesaler's - and I keep mindlessly digging into it.

Sorry, no advice. I'm currently buried under a pile of Heroes wrappers🤣🤣

Food bank it and feel positive on two counts,

Howmanysleepsnow · 31/12/2023 00:18
  1. Eat it all (except the dodgy coconut quality street that no one wants).
  2. Dont buy more
  3. If you get desperate eat the dodgy coconut quality street. They’ll be utterly unsatisfying and you won’t want to do it again, but you feel like you have the option.
  4. By Easter, you’ll buy chocolate and find yourself miraculously non-plussed about it.
Thats how I cured my chocolate addiction 3 years ago (inadvertently, I was just trying to save money!) I do eat it at work, but that’s mostly for energy and because we always have loads lying about that patients buy us.
bakewellbride · 31/12/2023 21:07

@Pozz one slab 😂couldn't cope with one piece!

Pozz · 31/12/2023 22:29
