Ovarian cyst -Do I have to stop jogging?

I usually jog about 7min/km. Not super fast.

I have had some dull aches in my groin over the last year and was diagnosed with a 4.9cm ovarian cyst. It's going to be scanned every 6 months as I'm premenopausal and no worrying signs.

Problem is, all information online says don't exercise if you have a cyst as you risk ovarian torsion.

My GP isn't helpful as she just put me on a 1 year waiting list to "have it removed" even though that's not protocol.

I'm now getting so many ectopic heartbeats from stopping my running that I have been referred to cardiology. I really do need this to manage my anxiety effectively. Only intense cardio seems to do it.

I can't swim and exercise bikes seem to set the pain off.

So I'm just sitting here rotting.

Anyone have any experience of this? I know most cysts resolve in 3 months but my symptoms have been there for a year so we think this one might want to stay.

I have always had ovarian cysts. I had one removed as it grew to 12cm and I was told to limit exercise with that one but my other ovary has a few smaller ones around 3/4cm and I was told to carry on as normal with them. I’m not monitored anymore as they weren’t growing bigger and I’ve had them about 10 years.
one did burst a couple of years ago so had a bit of groin pain for a few days. Gynae said they may burst and new ones can come but unless I get symptoms he’s not worried. I think it’s only a concern if it’s big as it can rupture the ovary, which is a problem.

Thank you. Yeah 4.9cm is maximum dimension as well. My understanding is as it's a simple thin walled avascular cyst it is unlikely to bleed significantly if it ruptures. More concerned about torsion but i can't believe the advice here could be don't exercise and just live with it.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
