Hi everyone

for as long as i can remember I’ve always had textured bumpy skin on my face.
I get white heads occasionally, but mainly it’s skin coloured bumps that when I squeeze white thick stuff comes out. Different to if you squeeze a spot, this comes out like a really fine skinny worm sometimes sorry TMI! Also some of these lumps sometimes have a darker dot on them so I assume a black head. I get black heads mainly on my nose and chin and the other bumps I get basically everywhere but mainly my cheeks and along my jaw line and sides of chin.

I swear I’ve tried every god damn cream and wash under the sun. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?!

someone out there must of experienced this with their skin. Is it my diet? Skin care? I drink lots of water and don’t eat badly.

please can anyone share experiences of what may help or helped them? It’s really getting me down.

thank you!

Vitamin C with ferulic acid is your friend here. After washing face before spf.

Following because I have the same problem. For as long as I remember I have had 'squeezable' tiny bumps on my chin. If I stretch my skin they are so noticable.
I had an extraction once that helped so might go back for that.
I have tried everything from double cleansing to acid toners and face masks. I am trying niacinimide currently to see if it helps but no luck so far!

Wash with plain soap and water, followed by an oil-free moisturiser and pore-minimising serum - do this in the evening. Just splash with water in the morning.
Change pillowcases frequently to avoid buildup of skin oils.
Steam often, either go to a spa steam room or improvise at home.
Keep up the water intake and good diet to encourage healthy skin regeneration.

Look up dermatica or skin and me. Both online prescription skincare.

sebaceous filaments are totally normal. it just means you have an overproduction of sebum. usually adjusting skin care products can reduce them, I have very oily skin so def know its annoying but i just have a squeeze when I notice them. They is a guy on youtube, I think his name is Byron? He has really good advice about sebaceous filaments.

brighteyez · 08/12/2023 06:06

Paula's choice face serums. Had tiny amounts of salicylic acid in and has made my pores smaller and less clogged.

brighteyez · 08/12/2023 06:06

It's only about ten quid for small bottle and has lasted ages.

EssAyyBee · 08/12/2023 06:16

His name is Hyram 😭 not Byron.

Go for a facial with an extraction. Console yourself that you'll likely get wrinkles very late!

ChateauDuMont · 08/12/2023 12:07

Do not over exfoliate your skin or you will be stripping the skin of oil and it will go into overdrive to produce more which when combined with bacteria will cause blocked pores

Benzoyl peroxide stops the bacteria and salicylic acid purges the pores of excess oil.

You must make sure you use an oil free moisturiser.

inomniaparatis · 08/12/2023 19:13

Jumping on this because I have the exact same problem, will definitely be trying the tips mentioned. Can anyone suggest an oil free SPF please?

itsmyp4rty · 08/12/2023 19:56

Do you live in a hard water area? Do you wash your face with water?

'The surface of the skin is a delicate balance of natural oils. When hard water comes in contact with the skin, it strips away those oils, leaving behind a layer of mineral deposits that clogs the pores where oils would naturally exist.'

I never use water on my face now. I use an organic cleanser and moisturiser from Green People.

@itsmyp4rty what's the source for your quote?

QueenofFox · 08/12/2023 20:16

I have this, I used to have monthly 90 minute extractions and still have loads of it. It has largely improved since I gave up dairy which apparently is a thing, I still hot cloth double cleanse with Cera Ve and cleansing balm, and tone with acid, hydraulic acid serum and thick moisturiser and weekly face mask which all made it better but the dairy thing actually stopped it.

Gnomegarden32 · 08/12/2023 20:17

You need a regular ongoing skincare routine that will prevent your pores from getting clogged up - a one off facial won’t do this.

A retinoid at night (keeps the skin turning over and helps prevent pores becoming clogged as well as many other benefits) and something with salicylic acid in the morning (also unclogs pores) is what you need.

Vit C won’t do anything to unclog the skin.

Ffsnotaconference · 08/12/2023 20:22

You say you tried every cream.

But what else have you tried?

Rosiiee · 08/12/2023 20:25

Have you tried oil pulling? I use the oil face wash from CeraV. Have been using it maybe 4-5 weeks now, daily, and my pores are cleaning up nicely.
