Allergic to my husband semen (is this the end of my life)

So for the past year or so, whenever my husband semen or Precum comes in contact with my skin. I develop red rash, that’s itchy and feels raw. My anus been itchy for 18 months to the point I nearly stripped it off.

anyways yesterday my husband semen leaked near my perineum and now I have a small (chickpeas size ) bump near my anus under the skin. It’s very very itchy. It’s feel like a lymph node under the skin near my anus but not inside. It’s like 5mm near. Should I be worried, is that a possible anorectal abscess. Gp gave me appointment till next Tuesday and I don’t know what to do with myself at the moment ?

How awful for you, OP. Keep your husband's semen away from your skin until you get to the bottom of this.

blackfluffycat · 07/12/2023 23:09

So have you only been together a year? Or did you use condoms before?

Helenahandkart · 07/12/2023 23:25

I had a similar experience with my DH. Every time we had sex I was really itchy if his semen came into contact with me, It would wake me up at night. We were both completely clear for STDs, and I never experienced it with any other partner. It was horrendous.
We were unable to conceive and it occurred to me after it was too late that perhaps I was allergic to his semen and that was playing a part in our infertility.
It doesn’t seem to be a problem any more, but we don’t have much sex these days!
If you did want to have children together and have any problems with fertility I would recommend mentioning this issue to your doctor. I wish I had done.

@NCNCNCNCNCNCNCMC mine are not hives but only one bump under skin which is makeing me worried. Google said anorectal abcess. I cannot sleep from worrying now and I haven’t eaten. My husband is sad with me because I said it’s his fault 💔

Of course he’s annoyed with you - he can’t help that you’re allergic to it!
Go and apologise to the poor man ffs

LittleGreenDragons · 08/12/2023 00:44

She can't help it either. Plus she can't sleep or eat with the worry about it all so she really doesn't need you berating her either. I think YOU should be the one apologising to the OP.

OP - hopefully the GP can put your mind at rest when you see them.

FlamingoFloss · 08/12/2023 01:53

It’s possible it’s something called Lichen Sclerosis @Insomniafromworrying and @autumn1610

Louise303 · 08/12/2023 02:05

I have heard of semen allergy hopefully the doctor will have answers maybe use condoms till you heal.

TheCatterall · 08/12/2023 02:28

If this hasn’t always been the case with you both I wonder if something in his diet or ‘makeup’ has changed and that’s the cause of the sudden allergy? Have you been to see a decent gp as a couple and pushed this with them?

Christmasmug · 08/12/2023 05:19

I would want the bump swabbed for herpes to be on the safe side tbh OP, they don't/can't test for that with a routine STI test, it needs to be an active sore and specific test if you have symptoms, which a sore, itchy lump could be.

CharlotteRose90 · 08/12/2023 05:50

oh god I was allergic to my ex I often had little bumps pop up. They were allergy bumps. In the end we split as j couldn’t bare it and I wanted to conceive so didn’t use protection. Never had that reaction with anyone since.

Nowherenew · 08/12/2023 07:28

Omg that poor man!
Of course it’s not his fault what a nasty thing to say!

You’re the one with the problem, so if you’re looking for someone to blame then blame yourself.
You sound like a very nasty person.

If this has been going on for a year then you need to see the GP, as it’s obviously not getting better.

It could be something that’s changed in him or more likely it could be something that’s changed in you.
Our hormones change over the years and this can affect our reproductive system and genitalia.

SqueakingSnapfish · 08/12/2023 07:34

I had a allergy to my boyfriend's semen when I was a teen.
It didn't result in rashes or lumps or bumps. It was swelling and burning inside, we actually thought it was normal due to being each others firsts. I just used to shower with cool water for about 20 minutes afterwards.
I didn't realise it wasn't until the first time I slept with my now DH (I've only had 2 partners) without a condom that I realised.
Edited for spelling.

howrudeforme · 08/12/2023 07:35

A work colleague had this and it did affect their fertility in that her body attacked his semen.

they had ivf with doner sperm.

Neonttasselll · 08/12/2023 07:39

Oh this sounds awful op! In the meantime before the appointment can you manage symptoms with anti allergy meds. I once had an allergic reaction to a med and they helped with the hives. Also a cream for itching?

Hope you get a long term solution x

Insomniafromworrying · 08/12/2023 08:03

No we have been together 8 years

i am 28 and he is 31
we have two children
we never had this issue before till this year.

yea I did apologise and I love my husband and I don’t want this to affect our relationship.
thank you all for your input. I’ll just wait for my gp appointment Tuesday ❤️

Might be worth trying piles treatment for that lump. Germaloids is the best over the counter one, I've found. I used to shred them in my sleep, and have had to get stronger points prescribed. I had the itch for years before realising what it was, and being damp after sex did aggravate them.

Sdpbody · 08/12/2023 09:28

I really struggled with thrush with an ex partner, the second his sperm touched me, I would get thrush. We had to use condoms.

Met my DH, and I have never had a problem.

Insomniafromworrying · 08/12/2023 10:25

Hello
ended up getting Gp emergency appointment. Just came out of the practice. They not sure what it is but they suspected anorectal abscess, they gave me antibiotics and cream to apply. No it’s not piles because it’s not around the hole, it’s near 5mm near.
I am just happy I caught it early to avoid surgery but I asked for referral because I cannot live like this ! Colorectal surgeon referral is done too

thank you all and I apologised to my husband and hopefully we will use condoms for the next month or so till we get to the bottom of it

Are you on the contraceptive pill? The artificial hormones can trigger allergies, and genitourinary symptoms of menopause (at any age). You might well find topical estrogen is a lifesaver.

That a what I was thinking too.
I have that, it's a bloody nuisance. I get a steroid cream once in a while but in between use a dab of vaseline each day to stop the skin splitting. Still splits but not as often and it heals quickly.
