Hey all,

Asking for my friend: Does anyone know what this could be?

She went to the doctors and they put her on a steroid but if anything, its got worse. Its all over her body, head to toe and starting to scab. Becomes very itchy, and says its very uncomfortable.

Shes vaccinated against the measles,
Hasn't changed her diet/washing detergent or anything,

Any ideas?

Does she feel unwell at all?

HairyFeline · 05/12/2023 09:53

Not the dreaded scabies, is it?

mae2014 · 05/12/2023 09:55

She had a bad throat for a day or two early last week, not sure if its related?

Vasculitis? Whatever it is, if it's "head to toe" and getting worse, she really ought to be seen by someone again.

Could be bullous pemphigoid?

Headband · 05/12/2023 10:02

I had a rash like that when I took penicillin.

Well the dr said it cant be parasite related as its not 'bite marks' so to speak?
Her boyfriend doesnt seem to have any issues, surely he would if it was?

Chickenpox?

Wbeezer · 05/12/2023 10:04

Pityriasis rosea?
Comes on after viral illness, v itchy.
Anti histamines should help with itching.
Google to check symptoms and then maybe go back to GP

HairyFeline · 05/12/2023 12:36

Scabie bugs are under your skin and look like a ton of red dots, that’s what made me wonder…had a housemate covered in it and we all had to wash everything on full blast. Nobody else got it, though we all had phantom itches for months afterwards!

Sofabookhotchoc · 05/12/2023 12:38

Really does look like measles though. Does she have any spots in her mouth?

HappyHamsters · 05/12/2023 12:41

German measles?

CrotchetyQuaver · 05/12/2023 12:42

Guttate psoriasis?

Pinkpinkpink15 · 05/12/2023 12:43

Something a different GP needs to look at!!

Whatishappenin · 05/12/2023 12:44

I had a sore throat then a horrible rash like that. It was Scarlet Fever and I needed antibiotics.

RogueFemale · 05/12/2023 12:44

Another vote for German measles. I got it in my late 20s despite having been vaccinated in my teens.

mommatoone · 05/12/2023 12:46

Looks very similar to when my daughter had scarlet fever. She was generally ok in herself, but rash presented like this. I think its certainly more prevalent in children , but im sure adults can have it. Id get a second opinion if i were her.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 05/12/2023 13:12

Measles.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 06/12/2023 05:34

Another thought, scarlet fever starts with a sore throat I think, just as @Whatishappenin and @mommatoone suggested.

TomeTome · 06/12/2023 05:50

It looks like a viral rash to me (so not scabies or bites). Scarlet fever or measles or German measles. She needs to keep well away from pregnant women and see the Dr again.

SullysBabyMama · 06/12/2023 05:55

A type of Autoimmune rash? These come in various types not just the large welts Google shows first of all.

mosaicqueen · 06/12/2023 06:05

Vasculitis? Could be so many things.
