Lying to parents about vulval surgery

I am hopefully having surgery on my vulval area privately, early next year. I live alone with DS5 so will need some help following the operation, plus I'll need a lift home from the hospital that is 1.5 hours away from home. They are fantastic and I know they'd be more than willing to do so.

I'll probably spend the first week with an ice back between my legs.

I really, really do not (and will not) want to tell my parents what I am having done.

Can you think any of excuses I could use?

This surgery technically is optional but not to me, it's caused me so much distress and discomfort over the years.

I had a repair following a botched episiotomy when DS2 was a few weeks old. I said exactly the same to my parents although it was slightly more complicated as the episiotomy was after the birth of DS1 and DS2 was born by C Section.

I just said that it was to repair an injury after DS1's birth, that by the time I'd seen the relevant consultant at hospital I was pregnant with DS2 so had to wait until after he was born. That's all the detail they needed.

If your parents ask any more questions, just keep saying you don't want to discuss it.

Bartholin cyst removal?

They won’t want to know the details in the same way you won’t want to share them. Just tell them you need a gynae op and would rather not share the details.
