Small lump in lower mid/left abdomen

Has anyone experienced something like this? A small pea like lump close to roughly where my underwear band sits and a bit above my c-section scar.

I've had it for at least six months, thought it was a lipoma so ignored it. But in the past weeks the area to the left of it has got more uncomfortable, the lump seems slightly bigger (still very small) and my back has got sore.

I went to the GP in case it was a hernia as I do manual handling often. He said not a hernia or a lipoma but maybe small lump of scar tissue from the internal sutures from my c-section.

He's referred me for an non urgent ultrasound but in the two weeks since the discomfort is growing and it's hard to get to sleep.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Periods are normal and I have no known history of endometriosis. I do have IBS.

@Wattleanddaub I know this is an old post but what was the outcome please

Wattleanddaub · 08/01/2025 18:48

It was a small cyst. I got an ultrasound which confirmed it. Nothing untoward thankfully but doctor did say that these things should always be checked so if you have something similar it would be best to go to your GP about it.

The other symptoms seemed to be linked to ageing and IBS.

@Wattleanddaub

Thank you so much for replying. I've been to the GP who said to monitor it but thinks it is a cyst. Gp is going to call me next week to check how it's going. It's only small and painful to touch, hopefully it is just a cyst and glad that yours turned out good.

Do let your GP know if it hurts. It shouldn't be too difficult to get a referral for an ultrasound. Let me know how you go x
