Back story- I had 2x mirena over 10 years after last dc was born. Loved it, I had light spotting and no more (periods were always brutal before that). Third mirena didn't work as well and after a year of increasing bleeding I had a full gynae review, d&c, hysteroscopy and new mirena inserted. Nothing sinister found but a few small fibroids noted. Gynae consultant and gp both recommended hrt given other symptoms. I eventually started on estradot 50mg patches about 6 weeks ago. I had break through bleeding/heavy spotting for about 8 days to begin, but I'm now on day 11 of a full on period. Some days it seems to get a bit lighter/old brown blood but the next it'll be back to bright red, fresh blood. I'm getting a bit narky about it now. I was prepared for break through but not feeling like I've just given birth. Mentally and emotionally I'm much better since using the patches but this period is not fun. Gp isn't interested in seeing me until I've done a full 3 months of patches to see if thing settle. Will they settle???
