Cramps when BF two year old

I know that cramping and contractions when breastfeeding a new born is normal.

However my DS is 2 and recently I started getting cramps again when feeding him. It isn't all the time and not sure if it's during a particular point in my cycle as they seem a bit irregular at the moment.

Does anyone have experience of this and if it's any cause for concern?

In case it's relevant by periods returned after 3 months despite EBF.

My cycles have recently become shorter.

I nearly 40 if that's makes any difference.

Have you taken a pregnancy test? IIRC I had cramping when feeding DD after I conceived DS

I did last cycle as it was early and thought it could be implantation bleeding but it was negative. I'm not late as it stands so haven't this month as nothing has changed.
