I've looked but can't find one. Does this exist? Currently in the midst of horrendous PMT, feel utterly drained, frustrated and sad to an almost crippling degree. It's getting older as I age (39). I'm not going to the GP because I don't want antidepressants essentially.

Does anyone have any tips or just some experience to help?

Following as I suffer too terribly
Sorry I don't have tips to share as such just solidarity
I have actually booked in with GP as it's just getting too much every month and I also sometimes get hormonal migraines

Hi @pamplemoussee I hope you get on well at the GP. I'm sure antidepressants can be really useful for some by the way, I wasn't trying to be at all disparaging, I've just tried before and not for me.
It's so hard feeling like this isn't it

It really is like a rollercoaster every month isn't it

The rest of the month I feel fine - i just think will the antidepressants actually do anything ?? but the emotional side is just unbearable with my PMT I feel like...emotionally distressed and sometimes it feels like I'm angry too

Have you tried the pill ? Did that do anything

I think I may feel worse over the winter months, I always feel abit better when I'm outdoors or probably doing more exercise but it's just really hard atm for me to fit much exercise into an already crammed routine

I have really suffered since having my daughter 3 years ago. Horrific low mood and suicidal thoughts as well as rage 2x a month, before ovulation then before period. I've started the mini pill which I didn't get on with before but it has eclipsed that low mood and desperation in the first month. Not to say I don't still feel down and premenstrual but not to nearly the same worrying degree, and I'm not suicidal anymore. Might be worth a try, or the combined pill perhaps, depending on your circumstances.

Mine got gradually worse- and then HRT at 44 has finally solved it.

Still have a few days a bit down, but nothing compared to the awfulness before.

grapesandplums · 16/11/2023 06:48

Hi all, I'm not allowed the combined pill due to migraines and the mini pill made my weight balloon and I'm already overweight!! So I don't feel those are options.
I have spent all week moping and in bed, desperately hoping my cat period comes today. I have no energy to go swimming or gym or yoga, things I would usually do. And that's making me feel so much worse.

I often wish I could try HRT as my PMDD symptoms are only happening as I'm getting older, but until I'm over 40, I just cannot see them allowing it 😞
