Lump in armpit - I’m pregnant

Hi all,

I noticed today that I have a lump between my armpit and my left breast. It isn’t sore or hard but it seems huge.

I’m nearly 22 weeks pregnant so I’m feeling really stressed out by this. Could this be a normal pregnancy thing as my breasts are getting bigger?

The lump is only on the left hand side, right armpit is totally normal.

Has anyone else had this?

It can be normal in pregnancy, but it can also not be. You 100% need to contact the GP tomorrow.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 12/11/2023 23:17

Thanks @TeaKitten im going to go in first thing as it’s just down my road.

You haven't had any waxing/or a new deodorant, or even had Covid/flu jabs?
I seem to have quite sensitive armpits - and all these things give me lumps

IVFfirsttimer91 · 12/11/2023 23:18

I had my covid/flu jabs in September so I don’t think it could be that. And no new soaps or deodorant at all.

Hi!
This is not a normal pregnancy thing. However, there's a very long list of things that this could be; and the vast majority of the things on that list are harmless.
So don't freak out, but call your GP and insist on an urgent referral to a Breast Clinic to get this checked out. Don't let the GP fob you off - you want a pro to take a look so that you get peace of mind for the rest of your pregnancy.
Best of luck!

I had one when pregnant, side of armpit nearest breast - GP saw me urgently and referred to breast clinic. I actually had my 20 week ultrasound in the morning and breast ultrasound that afternoon and it was a cyst. It went after a few months. I had another when breastfeeding my next child which stayed until I stopped feeding - I also was checked at breast clinic then.

Do get it checked urgently but be reassured it is very likely nothing to worry about.

Namechangedforthis25 · 12/11/2023 23:19

It may well be breastfeeding related as breastfeeding tissue extends into the armpit. But still get checked out

IVFfirsttimer91 · 12/11/2023 23:20

Thanks everyone. I’ll be going to my GP first thing tomorrow and insisting on an urgent appointment.

My daughter had this. Was scanned when pregnant and it was nothing. Best to get it checked but don’t panic as it’s not uncommon. (And stay off google!!)

kwetu · 13/11/2023 21:16

Any update?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/11/2023 22:13

@kwetu Went to the GP this morning, they were great and fitted me in. The doctor said it’s a 3cm lump but it’s mobile and that’s a good sign. She said it was probably nothing but she has referred me to the breast clinic. She told me it was a ‘two week wait’ clinic so hopefully should hear from someone regarding an appointment soon :)

Appointment is today and I am SO nervous. Didn’t sleep at all last night. Hoping it all goes well today.

Good Luck. Expect to be at the hospital for most of the day. Take a book or something and keep us posted.

Sending positive vibes x

Hi op, could be a clogged milk duct. Speak with gp to be on safe side. And congratulations on your pregnancy

spiderlight · 27/11/2023 11:36

Hope they can set our mind at rest today.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 27/11/2023 12:30

Thanks guys. I’ve got a book packed. I was going to take my laptop and do some work. But I don’t think I can concentrate on that right now. It’s been hard enough slogging through this morning on no sleep!

I will keep you updated, thanks for the support xx

I’ve seen the consultant and now am waiting for a scan. Fingers crossed all is ok. The doctor didn’t give anything away when he felt the lump
