C Section Bulge

Hello all, apologies if this is a bit woolly, I'm posting on behalf of a friend who has English as a second language and so I'm using her description, I can ask her for more information if anyone has any ideas.

She has 2 DC and had 2 C sections. Her youngest is now 4. She is in her early 40s and had recently noticed that above her scar she has a bulge.

She has never (according to her own self-assessment!) had a particularly flat tummy, but this is new.

As I haven't had a C section I can't offer her any advice, but I thought, well, if anyone can help, it'll be Mumsnet!

Thanks in advance.

It's called a mummy pouch and very common after a cesarean.

I've had 2 sections, mine is much bigger because dd was a large baby.

I've had four CS and I've got the same thing
I'm quite old now (well, children all grown up) and the best thing is to try to keep your weight down and wear good supporting knickers!
Magic pants etc.

Thanks so much! I'll pass this on 😊

If her last section was 4 years ago and this is a new change it may not be normal - there’s not enough info in your post to reassure. She should probably see a real life HCP.

Yep that's what I thought - also, she's a HCP herself, but has said she doesn't think it's a hernia or anything... But I still think she should get checked out.

Well that’s different isn’t it. If she’s an HCP who knows her full history and can see what’s going on she’s in a better position to assess it than anyone here. If she’s already thought about hernias etc and is reassured then not sure what else you’re looking for here.

She was the one who asked me to ask on here 😊 She knows I find MN really useful and in the absence of any obvious answer, she thought asking a forum of women who may have experience of this themselves might throw up some useful suggestions.

I've definitely found as I've got older that it's become more obvious.
I doubt if it's a hernia.
