Looking for advice for my daughter please. She is 15 years old, and started her periods just before her 13th birthday. She’s never been regular but didn’t really notice a pattern. She does a lots of sport, hockey and swimming, and has been tracking her cycle on an app. She showed me the app last night, and her cycle seems to be every other month. I said I’d make a GP appointment, but she doesn’t want me too. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you

She may just have a long cycle. Mine was always 7-8 weeks, especially when I was younger.

It could be a long cycle or it could be that it's still regulating - I think it can take a few years to properly settle.

You could try something like Natural Cycles which uses a Thermometer to measure temperature, which will show if/when she ovulates and that will give more of a picture.

But I'd be inclined to leave it for now, if it's not bothering her.

Lucky her! I wish I only had periods every 7-8 weeks - and unless they're trying to conceive, I would guess most of the menstruating population would agree.
