Hair loss

I don't know if this is necessary a women's issue, but I wondered how many of you notice hair loss?

I'm 40. For the past 1-2 years I've noticed that my hair seems to be falling out very readily - individual strands rather than clumps, but very frequently. For example, EVERY time I run my hand through my hair, I'll end up catching a few loose strands in my fingers. It's like they're barely clinging to my scalp. And whenever I shower (which I do every day), quite a few come loose - maybe 20 strands. And then the same amount again when I brush & blow dry after showering. And I seem to always have random hairs floating down on me and down to the floor all day. I feel like I'm seeing them everywhere.

Does this sounds like normal shedding or am I right to be concerned?

I've been following the exact same hair routine that I've had my whole life, and I'm not under any undue stress. I did actually have my bloods tested about a year ago but it didn't show any major deficiencies.

It’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day. I think it can happen in cycles and sometimes with me a couple of months after I’ve been through a bit of a stressful time.

Thanks @CheshireCat1 yes I've noticed a bit of a cycle going on. I guess it could be stress related in my case even if I'm not conscious of any specific stresses.

100 stands a day is lot though, isn't it?

This has been happening to me since the menopause. Periods stopped roughly 6 years ago at 48.
Know what you mean with the strands coming out every time you run your fingers through hair /comb another small clump/same when washing.
It does seem to come and go with me week to week.
Currently not loosing so much.
Do you colour your hair?
When box colour dying during Covid, I found the worst loss was the first wash after a home colour 😰
Doesn't happen now I'm back at a Salon.
Am on oral HRT plus a cocktail of vitamins & marine collagen powder.

Someone recommended Perfectil supplements on here and I feel they have helped the best so far.

I'm having this at the moment and I assumed it was perimenopause, but I asked my gynaecologist laat week and she said it isn't, but that hair loss happens about every four years in a cycle.
