Hi all

just looking to see if anyone’s been in the same situation as me. So I was on cerazette last year (2022) thought I’d found the perfect contraception at last (I’m 37) no bleeding, nothing. Stopped in December. Started again in February bled non stop, stopped start of may then started again end of may bled till end of July then stopped pill completely. Had no period until 5th October and iv not stopped bleeding since then. Just a usual kind of period one big bleed with clots. Had a private smear all fine, just had a hormone blood test today get results tomorrow. Doctor gave me Transemix acid to lighten the bleeding for now. Anyone else had this problem.

Hi I had the same problem, was fine on cerazette for 6-8 months no periods, then begun to have bleeding after sex, random spotting almost every week. Had clear smear & sti tests, during the smear test the nurse diagnosed cervical ectropian caused by the pill. Since ceasing cerazette and switching to noriday which doesn’t contain desogestrel I have had no spotting or random bleeding after sex. So my body obviously doesn’t agree with desogestrel.
if you can be disciplined enough to have a shorter window taking noriday on time (within 3 hours instead of 12) then try switching to that and see if the bleeding stops.

Sorry just saw you stopped taking the pill since July, it might take a while for things to calm down

This is very common during peri-menopause, and unfortunately, those blood tests you just had probably won't benefit you. Go to a private clinic if you can should your GP fob you off.

I’m not looking to go on any more contraception. I have two kids already and don’t want anymore. Was just looking to stop the pill and maybe get my tubes tied. Had problem with contraception since I had my son 6 years ago and I’m just fed up now. I went for the blood test to see if my hormones are out of sync. Doctor refused smear and this blood test hence me going private.

I'm so glad you went private. I hope you get answers very soon. I had my tubes tied and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Never regretted it and it takes such a mental load off your shoulders.

I’m 33 and have had the same problem the last 18 months. Just constant bleeding but I was on logynon, Rigevidon and gedarel.
I have other peri symptoms and my hormone test came back that I had no distinguishable level of oestrogen at all but nurse adamant it’s not peri. Smear was clear, transvaginal clear and STI clear (been with DH for a decade).
I was put on the mini pill and so far that has worked.
We ruled out blood disorders too, could be worth checking for you?

I am on that pill and it seems a side effects is irregular periods. My last one lasted 15 days. When I stopped it last year it took 3 months to get my regular cycle back.
