Mirena coil and smear

I have the mirena coil, and had a smear 2 weeks ago. My strings have always been very shirt but have always been able to feel them . The nurse doing my smearcould see the strings, i had slight cramping after the smear.
But haven't been able to feel my string since(I've only ever been able to feel one ). I'm starting to panic now , it definitely didn't come out during the smear, and definitely haven't seen it come out since. Please tell me I'm panicking for no reason .

Yes, mine disappeared upwards after a smear.

Sounds like it has probably moved up a bit and perhaps the strings were cut shorter than was sensible.

You need to insist on having a scan to confirm it's still there, and working as it should. I had to fight for this, believe it or not.

Assuming it is, they might decide to remove it now or they might leave it until its time is up. Mine was eventually removed with a hysteroscope (camera) - not as bad as it sounds.

If you have another inserted, make sure the strings are left longer next time.

I would have noticed if it had come out wouldn't I? I don't want it taken out yet..but may contact gp this week .
