Heavy bleeding on desogestrel

Catlover844 · 22/10/2023 11:14

Hi,
first time posting. I started desogestrel last week to help manage endometriosis and I’m now bleeding very heavily. I’ve never bled this heavily before and I just wanted to know if this is normal and if anyone else had this?
thanks!

I know this is is an old thread , but I started desogestral about a month ago , and i was fine for the first pack , then I started bleeding, which I thought was my period. I've been bleeding for 10 days now and it's getting heavier . It now is exceeding the heaviness of my heavy days in my period .

I don't think in going to take today's dose. I'm just going to stop .

Out of interest, did you continue to take it @Catlover844 ?

I'm on desogestrel and the first 5 months were great. No bleeding at all but I started bleeding 5 weeks ago and it won't stop. I've seen the GP who prescribed tranexamic acid but it hasn't stopped.

I'm really struggling.

Are you still taking the desogestrel?

Yes

Ladymuck2022 · 26/06/2024 22:08

Yes I’ve been on this too. Oct 23 to Feb 24 I was fine then from Feb I started getting light spotting. My understanding is they will try to say a ‘bowel issue’ at play but not my problem how fast or not they get colonoscopy results and be bothered to rely these to patients. (my understanding is they try to tell ibs / ibd patients the oral pill is barely tolerated/injested - not my problem when results take months years to come through)

I then went back on it 5 weeks ago I’m now getting pinky blood each morning as if it pools overnight (reminding how my periods frequency were in 2022 which no one would listen to back then)

A hospital cancelled the second coil removal this Friday due to ‘industrial action’ this Friday of course last minute this week but a sexual health clinic in my county are seeing me in a week time to remove the coil and in all the time of being told only GP or a hospital could remove this was not so. 🙏 hope it goes ahead and thanks to the sexual health clinic for understanding a woman’s body is her choice. The hospital knew when booking the 2nd appointment industrial action was coming so I don’t salute/support them. Sorry.
