Quick HRT question

Hi all.

I started HRT within the last week. I'm just on one pump at the moment and am due to go to see the GP to check progress in about 6 weeks.

My question is this. I'm very last-minute in the morning and so rather than using the pump after my shower I've been using it at night before going to bed. It occurred to me this morning, though, that that means I'm washing off anything that remains about 8 hours after putting it on.

Is that okay, or do I need to rearrange my morning schedule to be able to do it after my shower?

Many thanks for any guidance :)

I found taking it at night affected my sleep, other than that I think night is the best time to take it.

Thanks Dusty 👍 Were you using the gel? Did you have the issue with a shower in the morning?

You can wash an hour after application. So 8 hours is definitely fine!

Night time here. No issues. I just make sure I thoroughly wash my hands after application as it can cause lactation in companion animals if they're in contact

Because of the way each hormone works it is recommended that you use progesterone at night and estrogen on the morning. Showering after 8 hours would have no effect on your application, it will have been absorbed by then.

Thanks Queen and Mudflaps. Hmm... seems I should look into doing the gel in the morning, then. May have to finally become more organised before work :)

I am on 3 pumps my dr suggested 1 in morning 2 at night. She also told me after showering or wait 8 hours before swimming/bathing.

Thank you :)

One pump morning and night here - and no issues. I think it's fine to do it at night.

LeonBlack · 22/10/2023 10:38

I do mine (one pump) before bed. Surely it must be absorbed by morning?

LeakyPipes · 22/10/2023 17:47

Thanks both. I'm glad to hear that others also do it at night 😁👍
