Mirena Coil moved?

NeedHelp000 · 12/10/2023 12:02

I have had the mirena coil in for 4 years now.
The last few days I have been feeling a pulling like pain low down in my tummy on me left hand side. I thought I'd better check the coil strings, and I cant feel them! Will call the GP on my lunch break but wondered if anyone has had the coil move location, what were your symptoms?
Thank you

I couldn’t find the strings a couple of days after I had it put in. Then a year or so later I had sudden bleeding, a scan showed it had dropped down. But I had no pain.

Thank you for your reply. I’ve had a real heaviness feeling in my lower abdomen all day today. I have an appointment with the nurse on Saturday to check it! But I’ve had a really good rummage down there (I’m a midwife so not afraid to dig deep haha!) and cannot feel even the tips of the strings. Starting to worry a bit now x

How did you get on? I had a smear 3 weeks ago.. have always felt.1 string although very short. The nurse saw it at my appt... few cramps after smear.. some light bleeding but haven't been able to feel my strings since . Starting to panic now

I can no longer feel the strings on mine. I had it checked by the nurse last week. She said all is fine but that there’s no way I’d feel the strings as they’re curled up around my cervix. 🤷‍♀️
