Just wondering if anyone has had similar? I'm 5 days post op and still exhausted! Had a op to repair muscles of the perineum and vaginal wall. I'm so impatient and just want to be up and about again but the smallest thing exhausts me.

It will do ! In the old days you’d have been in hospital 7 days and home to rest. Check up appointment in 6 weeks.

True. I keep trying to remind myself of this. But with three small kids it's near impossible to rest!

How are you doing op. I had a similar operation 8 days ago & can only walk a tiny way without it being incredibly achy.

ArcticBells · 17/10/2023 20:22

There is a lot of healing to be done. Even the most basic cut to skin takes 7-10 days to fully heal so please give your body a chance

I did this when my children had grown up and was surprised by how long it took - it was 3 weeks of frequent resting and pacing myself.

I also found I was Vit D deficient later.

I'm two weeks post op now. The first week was tough, I get so weak and sore and couldn't walk far. I'm feeling much better now, no pain but still can't walk too long a distance or I become achey

I'm 5 weeks post op and only started feeling completely back to normal this week. As you are only at week 2, keep resting! Too much movement risks prolapse again!

Whereland · 20/10/2023 08:42

I'm feeling much better but still trying to mind myself. But it's almost impossible with three small children under 5!

@Whereland do you have anyone helping with the kids?

Robotalkingrubbish · 21/10/2023 03:45

I had the same surgery. I didn’t rest enough and I didn’t follow orders about lifting. I’m not only back where I was but I now have an even worse prolapse. Take heed @Whereland do not do too much too soon. 💐

My husband took two weeks off work but he's back now, kids are at school and nursery so I have a break during the day. It wasn't quite a prolapse I had, it was the perineum area and vaginal wall that needed to be repaired

My front and back vaginal wall also needed repairing. I still have internal stitches. Definitely continue to take it easy, no lifting, NO CHORES, and take rests with feet up while the kids are at nursery.
