Talk to me about menstrual discs

I've been a menstrual cup user for well over a decade. Very happy with them.

But when my last cup needed replacing I thought I'd try a disc - the greater capacity and the reduced risk of interference with my IUD were the selling points.

I thought I'd try with a cheap one from Amazon, and upgrade if I got on with it.

I have not got on with it. It leaks! The "auto dump" feature seems to just randomly happen. Fortunately I always wear period pants with it.

But are the more expensive types better? Is it rubbish because it's cheap? Or are they just not as reliable as a cup?

Please share your experience.
Thanks!

Apparently it's a thing where when you go to the loo it 'releases' and allows the collected blood into the loo.

Except, it doesn't work at the right time for me.

Has anyone actually used the Nixit type of expensive ones?

I have a nixit . I think it's probably better if you have pelvic floor vulnerability as it doesn't suction in the same way. I do find them messier to change. It's easiest to do in the shower.

Does it leak at all?

I think I might just have to go back to a cup

Hey - after reading about them in the invisible women blog I bought a Saalt one and finally got up the nerve to try it. I'm a mooncup user so I thought I'd be okay.

They're a bugger to get in and I have no idea whether it's in right. If only I was able to see a cross section of my nether regions to know Confused

I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I presume you're still on your first go. Let me know if you have any tips!

OctogenarianDecathlete · 13/10/2023 07:22

I used it for two cycles and jacked it in on the 3rd and got out my spare moon cup.

It just leaks all the time.

I think I'm going to go back to a nice soft cup instead.

What I want to know is if it's just because I bought a cheap one. Or are all the discs like that?

Never leaked with mine at all. I bought the proper branded one and it's very soft
