Haemorrhagic ovarian cyst - treatment and prognosis?

I've been referred to gynae and will be hearing imminently about urgent surgery for a haemorrhagic ovarian cyst. I have also been diagnosed with adenomyosis (am 48 and on HRT). In our area the GP arranges the tests/scans first and only refers with their results, and I've been accepted onto the urgent/2WW pathway.

What I don't know is what surgery is likely to be - anyone have one of these treated before? And are they always benign? All I've been able to get from my GP is tramadol for the excruciating period pain (and a dire warning to watch out for rupture) - I was waiting for an ablation anyway for bleeding and am worried/suspicious they'll just want to do a full hysterectomy. Despite suffering with horrendous periods for years I'm not sure how I feel about it all being gone, but I'm already being treated for melanoma so if there's any risk of this turning malevolent I'd be better of with it all out.
