Hi all. 15 year old dd has recently had a contraceptive implant fitted to help her painful periods. Does anyone have any experience with these and in particular, how long before it might make a difference to her pain? Thanks in advance.

Hi - I have had 2 implants now. The first one stopped my periods completely and I had no pain. I had been on the pill and they asked me to finish off the pill cycle I had so I would say took about a few weeks for me to feel the implant.

My second one I have periods on, fairly consistent but some are not (sometimes I can be on for a month!). Cramp wise I do still get them, but no where near as intense as it was prior to contraception.

unfortunately OP I think it’ll depend on how your daughters body reacts to the implant and everyone has different experiences, one of my friends had a bad experience with it, but it seems to start working pretty much straight away.
