Need some reassurance after blood tests and bleeding

Well I’m really not having a good time at the moment ladies, could do with some reassurance or just someone to talk to.

I went to the doctors for a follow up smear 3 days ago as my last in 2022 came back HPV positive for high risk strain but no abnormal cells. This time, a few days after the smear I noticed brown discharge which I’ve never had before so that of course sent me worrying about cervical cancer (not due on or anything).

The doctor also did a blood test because of slightly irregular periods and cramping. The results of significance:

  • FSH - 5.7
  • LH - 15.4 (high)
  • Testosterone - 1.60
  • Phosphorous - 0.64 (low)
  • HDL cholesterol - 1.78 (high)
  • Folate - 3.0 (borderline)

I have a follow up in 2 weeks but from my Googling it looks like PCOS? The phosphorous is also scaring me as low levels can mean malignancy? I am only 30 so to have all of these levels out is a surprise, I am also TTC which now seems much more of a challenge :(

Any thoughts on any of it??? X

I have pco not the s and my FSH levels are 2.1 and you may be ovulating to have high LH. Sorry can't comment on anything else but I am also waiting on smear results after 2 positive hpv screenings so didn't want to read and run!

Thank you… it’s hard to make sense of it all isn’t it? Good luck for your smear result… this is the only one I have “bled” (brown discharge) after which adds a whole new layer of worry!

What cycle day was this blood test done?

Testing you for phosphorus is not usual in such cases, do you actually mean progesterone instead?.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 18/09/2023 21:03

Your level of LH to FSH could indicate PCOS, these levels should be around the same.

llihl13 · 18/09/2023 21:25

@AttilaTheMeerkat it was cycle day 13. I usually ovulate around day 17. It was definitely phosphorous but dr didn’t do progesterone weirdly!

Yeah I think mine are around 3:1 not 1:1? I have been prescribed metformin but reluctant to take it as my glucose levels are normal :s
