Hi ladies, I've just been to the GP as I've had suspected PCOS for years - irregular periods, terrible PMS symptoms and most recently pelvic pain.
The GP was very efficient, she did bloods, tests for infection, follow up smear (as last year it was HPV positive) and booked me in for a pelvic ultrasound. She said it very much sounds like PCOS and wanted to get to the bottom of it as I am thinking about TTC now I am 30.
My question is, she prescribed metformin and told me to get myo-inositol to help with ovulation, but I have not yet had blood results to say I am insulin resistant - should I be hesitant to take the metformin until I've had the results? I'm a bit wary as I've read about side effects and not sure if it can do more harm than good if I'm not insulin resistant.
Thanks!
