Have received my results from a normal smear test.
HPV and abnormal cells, I have been invited for a colposcopy. I am so worried!
has anyone had similar results from a smear?

Hello, I had the same nearly 20 years ago. Had a colposcopy and frequent smears after that but no further issues. I did have a bit of pain about 30 mins after the procedure which was like very bad period pain. Didn’t last long but took me by surprise.

i know it’s easier said than done, but try not to worry. Well done for getting your smear.

Thank you for your reply!
do you think I need to take the day off work after the procedure? And should I bring someone with me ? Sorry for the questions I’ve just never had one before

No problem.

i didn’t take anyone - you’ll be fine if you can’t, but if it’s easy then you could do to drive you if nothing else.

again if it’s easy not to work then maybe take it off, but if you need the money then I think you could work within an hour or two if it’s not too physical. It only really hurt for about 5-10 mins as I recall, I was walking out of the hospital and had to sit on the floor.

I had the same. Had a biopsy taken. It wasn't too bad, like a smear but lasts longer. Not particularly painful. My biopsy was inconclusive as they didn't take enough cells so I was recalled to go again in 6 months. They did say nothing looked untoward though.

I have had this result on and off for years. Had a couple of colposcopy procedures- a bit of discomfort but nothing terrible- I've gone straight to work after it (,though they don't advise it,) I was perfectly fine.

I had this about 6 years ago and I had the camera and all was fine. I've been with my husband 20 years so I think it's just something that comes up after time. My recent smear was free of hpv
