Colposcopy, biopsy and anxiety

I just need to get this out and hopefully someone will have been through similar.

I had VIN 3 (pre cancerous cells on vulva) back in 2016. Every 6 months I go for a vulval colposcopy and everything has been absolutely fine. The hospital also do my smears, rather than my GP, every 3 years.

Last week I went for my routine checkup and smear but the dr advised I has some cells from the inside on the outside (ectropion I think it's called) she also said that the iodine didn't take up on all of my cervix so she did a biopsy.

I'm now in a whirl of anxiety and convinced I have cervical cancer. The DR said she wasn't overly concerned but if there are patches where the iodine doesn't take, this could be cell changes.

I always thought if you have a colposcopy, that's when you were told what the issue I.e CIN 1,2,3 was there and then and then offered treatment?

I'm not sure why I've had a biopsy. I'm also still bleeding bright red.

Help 😩

They won't tell you at the appointment as they don't know
It has to go to the lab and you'll get a letter
I have these issues too
Do you mind me asking how you knew there was something wrong with your vulva for them to do tests initially ?

@solice84 I had a white patch about the size of a 5p. It was completely smooth and I'd never had known it was there if I'd not looked.

I was treated for dermatitis, warts, eczema and it never changed so I insisted on a biopsy......VIN 3 and had surgery to remove it

Good luck
It might be nothing but even if it is it will probably be easily treatable if you've been having regular screenings

Just wanted to update this thread.

I got my results today and there were no cell changes, no high risk HPV but I do have low risk HPV.

Not actually sure what that means but no treatment needed. Phew!

I am due to have a vulvar biopsy on 19th April- for two reasons- one I had spotting during Menopause and mum passed away due to womb cancer second I already have Oral Lichen Planus and since a few months have red patches down there which cause itch and burning sensation.
I ma freaking out thinking about the biopsy and also the recovery and the results. It is going to be under full sedation.
May I know what helped healing after the biopsy?
