Hi,

I’ve had the below come up in the morning for the past 10 or so days when clearing my throat.

Only accompanying symptoms I have is Rib/side pain and some shortness of breath (I have anxiety and borderline iron so may be more to do with that). The rib pain was there a while before this.

I went to the GP who couldn’t hear an infection on my chest but gave me antibiotics anyway. I had to stop them because they were wrecking me but they told me to just discontinue use and go to my chest X-ray. My bloods didn’t show signs of infection, only borderline iron, which is a battle for another day (on-going)

I’m waiting for my X-ray results and appointment with a GP again to run through them but it’s driving me mad and spiking my anxiety.

I don’t smoke, I don’t live in a highly polluted area, my hair isn’t black (I appreciate it looks like hair!) and I’m not in any jobs where I inhale anything.

does anyone have any thoughts?

thanks.

Hello, I have exactly the same - did you find out what it was?

I believe black in phlegm is fungal. I've had this with sinus infections.

I didn’t @FunnyTurtle87 . I had a CT scan and a further X-rays, as well as an ENT appointment where they looked in my nose/throat throughly and nothing. It was ruled out as not being fungal. The only other thing they could do was a bronchioscopy which they decided the risks outweigh the potential cause. I still occasionally get it but no explanation.
