Ultrasound after ablation

Is that normal? I can't see any reference to a routine ultrasound after ablation online. I had an ablation about 12 days ago and attempted sterilisation which they couldn't do due to scaring from previous surgeries.

I've now received an appointment for ultrasound which I assumed was normal to check after ablation but actually can't find any reference to that being routine.

I didn’t have any follow up at all after mine. It was at the start of the pandemic though, so might have impacted the after care.

I had one after mine but only because the ablation didn’t work and I was unwell. I wasn’t offered any follow up.

Thanks both!

I have a follow up in a few weeks but the scan next week.

@Lovemusic82 was everything ok after? Did it eventually work?

I didn't have an ultrasound after mine. Had one follow up appointment a couple of months after the op, which was basically just a quick chat with the consultant.

Sadly it didn’t work for me. I have had several ultrasounds since and the last one conformed that my womb lining was patchy (not thin like it’s supposed to be after ablation). My periods are slightly lighter but not a huge difference. I was sterilised at the same time and now have the most awful period pains. I am waiting to see if I can have a coil fitted but my gp can’t fit one due to me having the ablation so it needs to be done by gynaecology. It’s the last thing for me to try before hysterectomy.

That could be it then. They agreed he would do a hysterectomy ASAP if it failed, so might be a case of seeing if it's thin enough so they can discharge me.

Sorry it didn't work. I think it's pretty high odds it doesn't work for a lot from what I've read. It's horrible what some of us woman need to go through.
