Ovarian cysts, fibroid(s?) and bulky uterus

Hello,

I’ve suffered for years after failed fertility treatment (where I was given prostap and progesterone) with pain and bloating. After being fobbed off since 2019 I had a scan last week that says my right ovary has “polycystic morphology” but the scan doesn’t confirm a PCOS diagnosis. It also found a fibroid of 7.6mm. I think the cysts were around 8mm. So nothing too large. The problem is my pain can be unpredictable, the bloating can be so severe and when I have both together it hurts every time I put my foot on the ground to walk. It feels like my uterus is heavy and swollen. I’ve noticed recently that I have urgency when I need to pee and get very little warning.

The GP basically said this is nothing to worry about and because the fibroid was less than 1cm, not a big deal.

I’m on the waiting list for gynaecology (have been for 8 months) and fertility treatment (same sex relationship so unsure if I can conceive). GP said gynaecology won’t operate if I’m waiting on fertility (also a long waiting list)

Does anyone else have this? How do you manage it? Are the triggers? Is there any advice you can give?

Thanks
R

I am sorry you’re dealing with this. The pain and discomfort is just awful isn’t it.
I am too but I have significant numbers of fibroids and they are large.

The only thing that has helped them slightly is being on the progesterone pill (although it didn’t prevent them growing like we hoped it would). Mine flares up when my body is going through the normal cycle then trying to have a period so that’s why the pill helped.

is it worth trying the pill until you get your date for gynaecology? Sorry, I don’t have anything else to suggest, but I sympathise with you as it’s awful.

Hey thanks so much for replying and im
sorry you’re in so much pain.

it’s good to know the pill has helped in some way then. I’m waiting to go for fertility treatment so that’s not an option at the moment but something I can consider in future I suppose. I’ve been taking a supplement called Wild Bloat and it’s helped with some of the bloating (not all the time but I think it has an affect on my intestines sometimes so those tablets certainly ease things and I’d recommend).

Have you ever found a combination of painkillers that work? I’m not a fan of pain meds but been given naproxen and cocodamol to try.
