Colposcopy - 2 months wait

I had my first smear recently showing hpv and low grade dyskaryosis. My colposcopy letter came through yesterday but I don’t have an appointment until November. I struggle with anxiety, is it possible for the cells to get worse while I wait? I understand there’s people that need to be seen quicker than me so I’m not complaining, would rather those who need it get seen to first but Im just worried that if it’s left for that long it could possibly get worse?

I saw that no-one has replied to this.

It would obviously be better for anxiety to be seen more quickly, but as a medical matter, the wait will not be harmful given the changes are low-grade and take YEARS to progress to anything nasty.

Depending on the colpsocopy results, the doctor may not even recommend any immediate treatment (in terms of removing any abnormal cells), on the basis that the changes are minor and may go away of their own volition.

I know it's not fun but, having been there too - and I'm also a worrier! - I can confirm that you should keep distracted until your appointment comes up.
