Subserosal fibroid

Sortmylifeout52 · 22/08/2023 14:13

Hi
I have a fibroid 6cmx5cm growing outside the uterus. I also have a bulky uterus, according to a recent pelvic scan. I think it is causing me pain in my back and pelvis and I'm sick to death of it.

Sometimes the pain is so bad, i feel sick.

I also have a mirena coil for the progesterone part of my HRT. I'm
contemplating getting that removed
and coming off HRT, until this fibroid can be removed ( on gynae referral waiting list ).

Those with these fibroids, how do
you cope? I haven't any bleeding and scared that if I have the mirena removed, I will bleed if I need to go back on oestrogen quickly.

The reason why I had the coil fitted, was due to bleeding on HRT.
Although in situ, the coil strings also couldn't be seen on the scan! Another worry.

So confused and fed up.

Hi
sorry to hear your in pain ive also been experiencing similar and subserosal fibroid slightly larger, no bleeding ive been seen ny gynae and placed on list for myectomy which is long

ive been managing with yoga, stretching massages and pain killers when it gets really bad
ive also read turmeric can help with reducing fibroids but pls do yr own research
might also be good to look into diet, they say a mediteranuan diet is good with lots of fruit & veg and to cut red meat and dairy etc x

Thanks for replying 🙂
Well, today I've started bleeding!

I'm scared witless now as I'm worried the fibroid has started to cause me bother.

Have made a GP appointment and rung the nurse who fitted the coil, for advice.

What a mess 😢

Im really sorry to hear this
i would push for a gynae referral as like another poster said they not interested
i even beem to a&e with severe pain and sent home & told to wait for gynae appointment
i have a few so waiting for surgery to remove them

Sortmylifeout52 · 24/08/2023 11:30

@Tahsha yes I've been referred to gynae. The bleeding worries me, as I shouldn't even have a bleed ( post menopause) so god alone knows what's happening.

Tahsha · 24/08/2023 11:43

Unfortunately its one of the symptoms of having fibroids depending on their location but hopefully u get sorted by gynae
you can also try ringing up for cancellationsp

Sortmylifeout52 · 24/08/2023 11:52

Well this fibroid us outside the womb, so I can't understand how the bleeding is happening?

OP posts:
clarepetal · 24/08/2023 11:52

How long have you had the coil for? I also have a coil and a fibroid (joy) my bleed sporadically with my coil- My doctor says you can have erratic periods, and it may take up to a year to settle. Could this be why you are bleeding.
Hope you are OK though, fibroid IS a pain in the arse. Xx

Sortmylifeout52 · 24/08/2023 11:55

I've had the coil in for 15 months now.
I'm 5 years post menopause.
I've got tummy cramps and headaches etc. Just feel grim.
And where are the bloody stings?? Scan couldn't detect them.

Hi @Sortmylifeout52 how did you get on at your scan? Did you get results? I hope all is ok.

I have had lower back pain and spotting (on HRT and minipill which usually suppresses everything) past few weeks and i am beginning to wonder if I might have fibroids too.

Sortmylifeout52 · 09/10/2023 20:10

@Littlemaple Oh dear, sorry you are also suffering too.
Are you peri or post menopausal?
I would get the spotting checked out, just for peace of mind.
A pelvic u/s would also pick up the presence of a fibroid.

I had an MRI almost 3 weeks ago.
The fibroid has gotten bigger and causing a fair bit of havoc in my body now.
A full hysterectomy is in order, the sooner, the better!

I’m sorry you need to have a hysterectomy @Sortmylifeout52 , but hopefully you will be much better after it. Do you know how long you will have to wait?
I had a phone gp appointment a few weeks ago as I’ve had awful back pain, especially in the mornings and on standing and walking. I also bloods taken by a nurse. When I phoned for the results I was told the blood tests were all fine and so they referred me for Physio saying my back was probably a ‘mechanical’ issue. I told the GP I was worried it was gynecological and that I had spotting/ bleeding but I peri so hard to tell what’s what. I’m on the minipill but over the past couple of years I have had spells when I’ve come off if to see what’s going on. I can then go ages without a period but then have a horrendous one with flooding and clots.

I am worried as I feel the backpain radiating through my pelvis/womb area. I think I will try and ask about a scan. Thanks so much for replying.

Littlemaple · 16/10/2023 19:26

Hi @Sortmylifeout52 I just wanted to check, have they taken blood tests for you since all this started? they did a whole lot on me to make sure it wasn’t anything else.
I am now waiting on an ultrasound scan after GP examined me last week and told me my uterus is enlarged. It’s all worrying isn’t it? I’m on minipill and she told me lots of people bleed on minipill. I told her that I have been on it many years (since last Mirena removal) and never bleed on it, so it’s certainly not normal for me. I’ve just started a thread today about all this, may be of info to you too if anyone replies to it- just for info. Best of luck with yours.

Sortmylifeout52 · 16/10/2023 19:36

@Littlemaple I just replied on your other thread.

Bloods were done, yes. All okay, apart from a raised CA125.

An enlarged uterus does tend to mean that a fibroid is lurking. I have a bulky uterus too, due to the fibroid.

The ultra sound will definitely pick up anything in or outside your womb.

I've just had CT scan to check my lungs, chest and abdomen. Hoping they will do the hysterectomy soon as I'm tired and stressed with all this now .

Littlemaple · 16/10/2023 20:15

I hope they fix you soon @Sortmylifeout52 all these gynae/ meno problems are truly exhausting. Thanks for replying x

Sortmylifeout52 · 16/10/2023 20:31

It's horrific.

All the best to you too x
