Periods and stress

I have always read about stress affecting your periods but I've never really thought it could happen.

My last few periods have been quite irregular - my cycle which is usually around 33 days has jumped up to 36/37. This period is also a lot lighter than usual - I usually have 2-3 days of fairly heavy and then it gradually wears out for the next 2-3 days. No pcos or endometriosis. Can period flow and cycle length differ each month for no reason?

The last few months I have been extremely stressed - the last two in particular I have been at my highest stress level.

Could the stress alter my period like this? I'm petrified it's perimenopause but I'm hoping I'm being stupid :(

I'm 30 and ttc my first.

Have you done a test? Could that light period not be a period as you are ttc? I do think stress has delayed periods for me in the past.
I’m now in menopause but my periods were slightly irregular-up to 40 day cycles before I had my 2 DC.
