Smear results

Just had my smear results which say I tested positive for hpv and have low grade dyskaryosis. First ever smear and had all the hpv vaccines although I know it doesn’t cover all the strains. I’m a very anxious person when it comes to my health so will be taking my mum with me to the colposcopy, which they said i’ll get an appointment for in 2 weeks time. From what I’ve read this is more common than I thought but doesn’t stop me from being anxious, I know low grade isn’t awful but I’m overthinking about the results being potentially more severe at the actual colposcopy as I’ve heard that can happen sometimes. Just looking for some advice really x

My first ever smear was the same. Colposcopy and biopsy confirmed low grade, follow up smear 6 months later showed the cells returned to normal which is common.

all subsequent smears were positive for HPV so annual recall.

I then got the shock of my life when my third annual one came back high grade cell changes and HPV. Colposcopy and lletz procedure done, subsequent smears normal and no HPV.

basically, the moral of the story is, go to all of your screenings, the doctors will look after you. I’m sure you’re fine and it’s just low grade. Hopefully your immune system will clear the HPV
