Cervical ablation - what to expect

I'm booked to have a cervical ablation in a week....can anyone advise what to expect?
(Hoping for positive experiences!)
In the blurb from the health Trust that's doing it, it says it will be done under a local anaesthetic but in my pre op assessment they said GA. I've never had any kind of surgery or procedure before so I'm pretty nervous.
It's booked for early afternoon and I read somewhere else you should have an adult with you for 24 hours. I presume this is a precautionary measure but I'm pretty sure DH won't consider taking the next day off work.

How long should I expect recovery to take? I've provisionally booked 3 days off work, but because of the bh weekend it will actually be 6 days before I go back. Does that seem reasonable?

I've read differing things about bleeding/discharge afterwards, some say it might occur for 6 weeks, but others say 2 weeks! When might I expect to do an exercise class or go for a run?
I'm away on holiday so I'm hoping some of my questions might be answered in the letter from the hospital but I'm just slightly panicking thinking about it on holiday!
