Painful sex

Hi all. Been with DH for 10 years and up until around a year ago had no issues. But pretty much since I had DC2 just over a year ago sex has become painful? It's not my actual vagina/vulva that's painful, it's a deep internal pain in my pelvis/stomach and even my bum? It's a sharp stabbing pain that feels similar to period cramps.

It's worse with certain positions (doggy is almost unbearable). I had a smear test six months ago that came back fine. No other symptoms apart from quite tired but I've put that down to having two young DC and working full time!

I suppose a GP visit is in order but was wondering if anyone else has had this? Thank you.

Deep pain during sex can be due to endometriosis being present. It is usually diagnosed via a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy. You should have a gynae referral made.

@AttilaTheMeerkat oh really? My mum had bad endo (had to have a hysterectomy). From what I recall though it was a long slog to get diagnosed 😕

it was a long time (almost two decades!) before I was diagnosed with endometriosis.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers. Do not be fobbed off and seek answers. Look too at websites like endometriosis uk.
