I’m 43 and had a large (tennis ball sized) benign ovarian cyst removed together with my right ovary last year. The surgery was combined with the c-section for DC2. I haven’t used contraception since as I was seriously ill not long after the birth (appendicitis/peritonitis) and it’s taken me a while to get my libido back. DH will be having a vasectomy but I need something to cover until that’s safe. I didn’t have the second ovary removed/tube sealed as I didn’t want to unnecessarily accelerate the menopause.
I’m reluctant to go back on a hormone contraceptive after the cyst, but am also a bit concerned about a coil. I had a mirena before DCs and only realised once it had been taken out that it was the cause of my multiple UTIs whilst it was fitted.
All thoughts/advice gratefully received.
