Norethisterone - taking early to reset period

Hiya, I am getting married in a few months then on honeymoon, and plan to start TTC after that. I'm currently due to have a period during the honeymoon (which is not ideal at all for snorkelling) so have bought some Norethisterone to delay the period. I'm a bit concerned about a) having bloating & mood side effects during the wedding/honeymoon, and b) having additional hormones in my system right before TTC.

Question for you lot is whether I can take the Norethisterone a couple of months before the wedding instead of during, i.e. after taking it when my period restarts will that effectively reset the start of my period and reliably continue at 29 day intervals (my usual cycle length)? Does anyone have experience with it and are you willing to share whether your cycle was regular after using? My concern with taking it early is that I won't be able to exactly predict when the period falls, so really keen to hear your experiences with it!

Thank you so much for helping, I wasn't sure who else to ask!

I took norethisterone recently to delay my period on holiday. When I stopped taking it my period arrived on day 3 after the last tablet. I am now due my period in a few days and this will be the first one since that delayed period. My period tracker has tracked from the 1st day of that period.

Thank you @dementedpixie for sharing your experience! If you'd be willing in a few days to share how the timing was I'd be super grateful!

I'm just hoping it doesn't start tomorrow as I'm due my smear test 😆. Yes I will update when it arrives.

haha that would be annoying!

@dinolino thats my period just starting. It is about 6 days later than my period tracker predicted and 32 days since my last period which was the one delayed by norethisterone

Thank you so much for remembering to come back to this - really appreciate it! super interesting that it's not immediately back to a normal cycle - that might change the timing I use to take mine. hope your cycle returns to normal quickly :)

I have a completely different explanation with Norethisterone. Good parts: no bloating, mood swings or any other noticeable side effects during taking it. Period arrived promptly 3 days after the course of tablets.
Bad points: first period was horrendous. Think Carrie and the bucket scene. Then no period for nearly 3 months. Situation has stabilised then and I’m back to a normal cycle. It’s maybe different because of my age (in my 40s), I honestly thought it was the start of peri menopause.
