Hello I'm 29. I have endometriosis (and spondyloarthritis) and I'm on the pill continuously. I stopped taking it a few days ago. As think I've been having urine infection. I'm hot, tired, not eating right and bladder is awful. But with endometriosis and the arthritis. It's not easy to know where pain coming from. Today woke up in quite a bit of pain. Thought normal as endo and stopping pill. But then, went to loo and this came out onto toilet paper!!! So gross. I went to drs, felt so guilty bothering them, but didn't know what it was and my mum was worried. The Dr said she had absolutely no idea and thought could be parasite, but then she changed her mind and kept saying it must have come from my bum, but I knew it wasn't. She is sending it off for analysing at the lab and said we will see what to do when it comes back.
I was worried, but I've done some googling and think, could it simply be decidual cast?? It looks like the photos and makes sense to me. Im sure it didn't cone from anywhere else. Does anyone know? Or had this happen? It would be good if that's all it is.

Thank you to you all. Xxx

Yep, decidual cast. I had one.

TigerLily96 · 31/07/2023 21:53

Thank you for replying so quickly. That's very reassuring. Did you need any tests or scans after? Or is it just something I can just forget about?

Really concerning that a GP doesn't know this is a decidual cast. The medical element isn't an issue but I'd be changing GPs urgently, what else doesn't this GP know?

MaybeBabyTwo · 31/07/2023 21:55

It's a decidual cast, your GP is a muppet.

No, no treatment.

WetBandits · 31/07/2023 21:56

Ooh yep, decidual cast, super interesting! Not harmful either, your body just got the whole period over and done with in one go 😊

BlastedSkreet · 31/07/2023 21:57

I agree with everyone above, in fact I’ve been on MN so long that I knew it was likely a decidual cast before I clicked on the thread!

Seems not uncommon - surprised your GP hadn’t any idea.

ginislife · 31/07/2023 21:58

Well you learn something new every day !!! I'd never heard of it and so just consulted Dr Google. Fascinating.

TigerLily96 · 31/07/2023 21:59

To be fair, I had to use two different drs to get my diagnosis of Endo and Spondyloarthritis. She thought I had a large follicle for endo. And said maybe my pain was psychological when in fact I had Spondyloarthritis. So I don't use her now. But today my GP was away so the secretary wanted me to see her instead. ... but yes, she was very kind today but won't be using her on a normal basis.
Thank you for replying. Glad its nothing. Feel better now.

🤣 same!
There ought to be an auto-solve for that question!

Hope you’re ok OP

TigerLily96 · 31/07/2023 22:01

What’s it in, for scale? It is really interesting. And absolutely awful that your GP thought it might be a parasite!

Jonnycakes · 31/07/2023 22:06

I had one of these and the month after I fell pregnant after 7 years of trying 😂. I had major panic when I first saw it though, I had no idea this was a thing until I googled.

crazeekat · 01/08/2023 00:59

it looks like a uterine polyp to me

thaegumathteth · 01/08/2023 01:11

I had one of these a few years ago, luckily I had heard of decidual casts so I was able to be in awe of it without the anxiety 😂

That’s what I thought, in which case it’s really big isn’t it? You must have been so worried.

TokyoSushi · 01/08/2023 08:13

Ha yes also thought 'bet it's a decidual cast' - I learnt about them on here!

Honeybeebear · 01/08/2023 18:54

I had this after taking taking 2 packets of the pill without a break. I had really bad period pain and bleeding, took painkillers and managed to sleep, woke up and had passed a decidual cast! I didn’t know what it was and went to the gp who didn’t know either, and said they would send it away to the lab- I didn’t ever hear anything about it. I found out what it was from Google & Munsnet- was a relief to know! I will never take the pill without a break again!
