Anyone had fibroids or cysts?

I’m so stressed and scared at the moment…I’ve had on and off full, heavy, aching pressie feeling in my very low pelvis for a couple of months. It seems to getting more frequent (I feel it at some point every day).

went to GP today and he’s sending me for ultrasound on an urgent referral but says he thinks it’s probably fibroids or cysts but that they will be looking for cancer also. He said it’s unlikely but this has worried me so much ..I have health anxiety and two very young children so just freaking out about the possibility but I’m hoping it’s just something common / benign.

id like to hear from people who did have fibroids / cysts or other minor things that gave you a dull, crampy, pressure feeling in your lower pelvis. My periods are normal, maybe a little heavier since having my second child but regular and no bleeding inbetween

I have had both, I had a huge fibroid which was about 10cm wide when I was pregnant which caused me to bleed throughout the pregnancy and then for weeks afterwards until it was removed via an emergency op and then last year I had an ovarian cyst of about 8cm which caused me to feel full pretty much all the time, made me pee constantly and occasionally caused me very sharp pain in the lower left side of my tummy again until I had it removed via keyhole surgery.

The Dr told me that both fibroid and cysts are common for women of all ages and usually don't require any intervention at all so I guess I was just unlucky, hopefully yours will resolve themselves too and that will be the end of it, fingers crossed for you! (Just remembered t is a blood test they can do for ovarian cancer so if you are anxious it might be a good idea to ask for that too! )

Honestly fibroids are very common. Between 20 and 70% of women get them at some point 😮
The chances of it being cancer are tiny compared to that.
That said I TOTALLY relate to the feeling of anxiety and imagining the worst until you get it confirmed that it is nothing to worry about.

Bulky uterus with pressure sounds classic fibroids. I have a few and been told to leave them alone unless they bother me. Try not to worry, it's quite common.

Yes I have a Fibroid and know that pressure feeling all to well. Much of the time they are honestly benign and they can degenerate and shrink as the hold on to positives, like to hope if it shrinks you feel the effect less. the menopause can help some too. Best thing I did was join a busy daily support group on Facebook where most of the folk have tried to do something/are those who have symptoms. Just get a sense of normality that you are not alone. We will overcome this but it may take time. There are a number of treatment options once you see gynae if this is effecting your life x I’m just curious how it develops all of a sudden and comes out of nowhere but I imagine you could say that of a lot of complaints.

Has anyone had a fibroid grow outside the uterus wall lining? I have a 6cm one with severe pain in my left side, bowel issues and nausea. I feel it may be pressing on a nerve/organ?

Runaround50 · 02/08/2023 13:32

Anyone?

JobChangeSoonPlease · 03/08/2023 14:55

@Runaround50 - mine is IN the uterus wall (rather than inside the uterus), it isn't causing me an nausea but seems to move about and sometimes is visible like a mound when I'm lying flat on my back. Makes me a bit squeamish to touch it. But I agree it can press on some stuff within and cause discomfort from time to time.

@Spinewars23 - do you mind sharing the Fb group name please?

missiz · 01/08/2024 01:51

hey @Runaround50 Did you get sorted? I have been told I’ve got a fibroid growing outside uterus on posterior wall. It’s around 2.3cm, aching lower back and after I pee it aches in my bladder and back.

Ohdearyme72 · 07/08/2024 20:11

I have 5 fibroids - had a succesful pregnancy with it, though was heavily monitored. They used to cause heavy periods but now at 52 my periods have gone and they no longer bother me.

missiz · 08/08/2024 10:13

I’ve got one and I have lots of backache. I am worried sick about it because when it’s one fibroid it can be something else.
