Changing pills to help periods?

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone can chime in on this.

I had a baby last June, had about 6 weeks of bleeding then started back on my pill (cerazette). No bleeding til a couple of days before Christmas, and random very heavy stringy periods since then at different lengths.
Had a hysteroscopy in April, all came back fine.
It was suggested I swap pills to try and help the periods.l, as when I was on cerazette for around 15 years pre pregnancy I never once bled or had a period.
I've been given microgynon to try.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Did switching pills work for you?

Yes I was the same I was having weeks of being on really heavy and then like 4-5 days off and back on again it was a pain in the ass I found coming off it for a while and then tried the coil a million times better x

Sounds like you've been given a combined contraceptive rather than the mini pill you had before. Combined pills are usually better at controlling periods than the mini pill so fingers crossed it helps

The gynaecologist who did my hysteroscopy referral wasn't too keen on me having the coil, partly because we may try again in a year or 2 and also she thought it would be too traumatic - I had an incredibly traumatic caesarean delivery - for me to have it done?
I'm worried coming off the pill completely will open the flood gates 😂

@dementedpixie that's interesting to know, I was put on cerazette at 17 to help with painful heavy periods! Dr did tell me after my hysteroscopy however that your "bleeding profile" can change after you've had a baby 🤔 last year was my first so I'm new to my new body as well I suppose.

Maybe try nothing and see if they settle down I've on baby number 5 and the periods only seem to get worse

Hi,

Im so happy I’ve come across this page!!

I’ve always been very conscious of my weight usually flex between 10st - 10.5st and when I fell pregnant I was at the lower end, about 4 months after I had my little boy I started slimming world as I’d gained so much weight through pregnancy, but luckily lost it all within about 6/7 months.

After this I started on Cerazette which I’d never been on before. I appreciate I’ve had a baby and things change BUT I’ve gain so much weigh, I can’t shift it at all, no sex drive at all and my periods are just so random and different to before, similar to what you’ve described.

Im at a point where even if I go to the doctors I’m scared of trying a new pill but also scared of not taking anything.

Any suggestions I would welcome as well!

Thank you x

@LadySSJ I had the coil b4 my last baby and it worked loads better but this time I went back on the pill and I had to stop as the periods were non stop and mood swings were another level My weight gain was another level so I stopped about 12 weeks ago and the weight has started to come off but slow the headaches were mind blowing
