2 week pathway - stopping HRT

So my doctor has put me on the 2 week urgent pathway. I had an unusual bleed and have a purple spot/ patch on my cervix so she wants me to see a gynaecplogist asap. She suggested it's probably best if I stop using my HRT gel in the meantime in case the problem is oestrogen related. I have the coil fitted, so have just stopped the gel. I am really scared about both being on the 2 week pathway and the awful perimenopause symptoms coming back but also wonder if I should have just stopped it straight away or reduced my dose for a few days and then stopped it? Anyone else had to do this whilst waiting to be seen by a gynecologist?
