Mirena coil- still bleeding after 6 months- is it not going to stop?

Posted before but feeling frustrated.

Had a mirena fitted in January for unexplained bleeding between periods. I had a hysteroscopy at the time and results showed nothing wrong with womb. I had smear in January and that also came back normal.

I have had pretty much constant light spotting on and off ever since, been spotting more than not, I have now hit the 6 month mark after getting it in and I’m having cramps and a light ish period! This is heavier than the spotting previous and bright red!

Im fed up now, I’ve had these issues for 3 years now.

should I pretty much assume the coil won’t work for my issues since it’s been six months?

from what I’ve read on here peoples issues have stopped after 3-4 months.

Mine took 14 months to settle. I can't use anything else for various reasons so had to lump it. Have a once monthly light bleed now but at least the random spotting has stopped.

To be fair my Mum asked the surgery peri and menopause nurse why had hospital surgeons describes the coil as an unruly teenager who could take when ever they like to settle. Go Mum.

Apparently they keep insisting why don’t people who’ have given it ago once? give
it a go again. They are nuts.

@Lucymcr82 its not as heavy or bad but I still just spot whenever. Could spot tomorrow or maybe in a week. Could last a week… could last three weeks! Still annoying. It’s been about 19 months now.

I had a similar issue and demanded that they remove it. They did and put me on cerazette instead, I didn't have any spotting/bleeding from that point on.
