Abdominal, back pain and digestive issues

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar and can shed some light. I've been having abdominal cramping in my lower left side for a long time now, which I always put down to ovulation pain. It's like a stitch and is very low in my pelvis. It comes and goes. For the past 2 weeks the pain has been a constant dull ache which has now moved to my back, left side just below rib cage. I sometimes get a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen and when I do I have a severe bout of diarrhoea and need to go ASAP. When this sharp pain comes on I get covered head to toe in goosebumps with severe cramping and on one occasion missed the toilet it came on that sudden. Then I can go a period of a week of not going to the toilet. I've been to gp and my bloods came back fine. There was protein in my urine and he now wants a stool sample. He has suggested IBS which I do have some symptoms of. Has anyone had anything similar?? My back is still so sore after 2 weeks and nothing is easing it. It seems a lot for just IBS.

Me! Near enough exactly. Had a clear FIT test. Dr thinks mine might be linked to hormones.

Did the Dr suggest anything to help??

Iron tablets as slightly anaemic. Been referred for a pelvic ultrasound too but basically been told to take Iburprofen and keep a food diary!

I have had episodes of similar. Back pain, lower abdo pain and upset stomach.

Usually lasts about 2 weeks.

I have premature ovarian insufficiency so never know if it is something hormone related or not. V odd.

That is the same aa me, he said try the Fodmap. I've also had fertility issues too and I'm wondering if it may be Endometriosis as it can also go hand in hand with IBS?

Yes 2 weeks for me too. It's so strange

Did the bloods the GP did include a test for coeliac disease?

The FODMAP diet is very restrictive ... I would only do it once you are sure that coeliac has been tested for and ruled out whilst gluten has been in your diet at a high enough level for the coeliac test.

Hi, yes he has done a coeliac test but it hasn't come back yet. Also done a stool test so waiting on results for that

Has your GP considered diverticulitis?

Teaandbiscuits60 · 10/08/2023 03:54

Sounds like my dads diverticulitis x

I thought endometriosis. Thought I had IBS until it was diagnosed. Had keyhole surgery and went back onto hormonal.contraception to manage it. Had a copper coil fitted after having DD2 and was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years later.

Maxiedog123 · 10/08/2023 05:06

Wíthout wanting to scare you you do need to have the pelvic ultrasound to check for ovarian masses.

hattie43 · 10/08/2023 05:14

diverticulitis is what Dr thought when I had similar symptoms . Had lots of tests and all clear .
