Getting back into exercise after childbirth

I had my baby a year and a half ago. I really don't do much exercise and I have gained weight since stopping breastfeeding. The only exercise I consistently do is walking, but it's not long distances. Recently I have also been swimming once a week. The big issue is I sit at a desk all day WFH.

I went to a pelvic physio a few months postpartum and she advised against taking up running too soon (as I was running 3 times a week before pregnancy) and to do some core rehabilitation instead as had slight diastasis. Well, I haven't really done the core exercises either - not making any excuses - just life getting in the way.

What can I do to get myself moving in a gentle safe way that also feels like exercise? I don't want to run again as I'm worried about getting a prolapse frankly. I tried yoga a few months pp but it felt too soon - I had pain in my core after it.

Could you try Pilates? I personally found it more gentle than yoga and you can really concentrate on your core. When you are WFH you could look up some online vids and do it at home on your lunch break to help with fitting it in.
