Ovarian cysts

My GP has done an urgent referral for a scan on my ovaries. Also a blood test for ovarian cancer. They think potential ovary cyst. Pain has worsened so might be rupturing.

The pain was there for two days before my period, I then had a four day period which was fine, then the pains have returned for three days. I assumed the pain would be around ovulation?

From ym experience of numerous, some large ovarian cysts, the pain is random and completely unrelated to my cycle.

Good to know!

Have you had any removed?

I had a problem with a cyst or cysts for a few months. I don't get periods due to the pill so it wasn't connected to my cycle. I don't know what caused it. I didn’t have any survey. Eventually the pain stopped so I assume they burst or whatever they do. I also had a test for ovarian cancer but the doctor was fairly certain it wasn't that - but always good to rule out! And sure enough, the test was clear.

Bloody hell it hurt though. Low point was WFH lying flat with the laptop on my stomach because I physically couldn't sit up. That was a bad time.

*surgery not survey

Sounds awful! Mine is painful but not as much as others have said. I have had constant back pain/tightness for months now tho which is a worry

Yes I had 4 removed, one at 17cms!!!

They tested them all after the were removed and found nothing untoward

girlladywoman · 24/07/2023 17:01

@Richvanilla did you have lower back pain?

OP posts:
Richvanilla · 24/07/2023 18:21

Yes, lower pack pain almost my whole life (since puberty) and later on as they got bigger they pressed on my sciatic nerve and caused numb leg and agonising pain in my butt cheeks.

Plus random random stabbing abdominal pains which I always figured was them trying to move about and pulling the tubes but I could be way off the mark!

I also had the blood test when they started growing rapidly which came back fine but they did expedite the surgery after that.

This is really helpful, thank you. I am still awaiting the scan date, but they said urgent so hoping to hear soon. Blood test is on Tuesday. Today I feel achy all over, run down, so sleepy, irritable. And I felt worse after eating a sandwich. Bloated and ovary pain. It's awful isn't it.

Did anyone have extreme fatigue and aching in the night and morning. Often I can't get up in the morning

Hi all, last month I randomly got horrendous pain on my left side ovary and around in to my back. It happened twice over ovulation then stopped. It then came back this month, again during ovulation. This time though, it has continued to ache most of the time. Left ovary and left side of back. I am waiting on a scan date to check for cysts but I also suffer with health anxiety which has of course gone through the roof. Can anyone put my mind at ease? My symptoms - left sided pain/ache, Nausea (could be related to anxiety) and sweats. Again, could all be heightened by anxiety. Constant worry is awful! X
