Mirena removal - bleeding

DD (19) had mirena removed on Monday. It was a difficult procedure and took a few goes (think retroverted uterus so cervix hard to find). Spotting on the day of but since then has developed heavier bleeding and cramps. No clots but watery blood (sorry if TMI). She is also on Dianette so this shouldn't be a 'period' as she's taking the pill at the moment.
Can anyone share their experiences of mirena removal? I'm not sure whether we should be going back to GP or if this is to be expected.

I only ever had one removed so I could conceive, but had a period within about 24/48 hours (it was a long time ago!) but from memory it was just a normal, if heavy, period

If she's concerned she should get it checked out. But the cervix is pretty sensitive and some bleeding is normal.

Been checked at local sexual health clinic as the GP said to go there. Pretty unsatisfactory really - no explanation for heavy bleeding & suspected STI. DD definitely doesn't have that so explained but wasn't listened to. Nurse took swabs and suggested she has vaginismus too. Poor DD didn't even know what this is and is now, understandably, really worried. Thankfully the bleeding is slowing a bit now so hopefully it will settle but will seek a specialist opinion if it doesnt.
