First period on Copper IUD

Hey everyone,

Please can I have some reassurance. I'm on my first period since having my copper coil placed about 6 weeks ago. I'm also on sertraline so I've been told both can cause distressing periods.

I am in so much pain! It's weird because my bleeding isn't heavier like expected, it's just so painful, I'd genuinely relate it to when I went into early labour. I feel so nauseous from it, it's only day one so praying this will pass. Does anyone else have experience on the copper iud and is this normal? I have health anxiety so panic about everything.

I had one fitted recently, pain on and off for two weeks, not the usual period pain, different..somehow...a bit like how it felt after it was fitted. I was convinced it had moved or something and nearly got back in touch with the hospital.
After a few months it has settled somewhat. So I couldn't say if it's normal of course, but my experience was similar.
